Description
This is a roadside sign for Clovelly Cross Filling Station, designed in 1930 by architects Orphoot and Whiting of Bideford for Christine Hamlyn. The sign is made of mahogany wood and features an oblong shape with a circular panel in the center. It has incised lettering that reads "CLOVELLY CROSS FILLING STATION 300 YDS." The sign is painted green, with a red center section and a yellow and red flame border. It is mounted on a circular green-painted wooden post, which is a reused telegraph pole, topped with a tapering wooden finial.
