Description
Bay Cottage Hotel is an early 19th-century house, later adapted for use as a hotel, with a rear range dating back to the 18th century. The front is rendered in painted stucco, topped by a slate roof and a rear stack. The building follows a double-depth plan with a rear block.
The exterior features three storeys and a single-window front. A coped parapet rises to the centre, with a chamfered rusticated pilaster on the left side and a platband at cornice level, along with a rusticated ground floor. A central curved two-storey bay contains six-over-six-pane windows, flanked by a four-over-four-pane tripartite window; below, there’s a smaller slightly curved bay with a sash window. The return side includes a trellised porch leading to a six-panel door with glazed upper panels, and 20th-century windows.
The interior was not inspected, but the rear range is said to contain an open fire.
