Description
The Ferryboat Inn is a public house located on The Strand in Shaldon, dating from the early 19th century, likely a remodelling of an earlier building. It features incised stucco and a slate roof with rendered stacks on the right side and left gable end. The building has a double-depth plan and is two storeys high with a symmetrical two-window range.
The exterior includes a coped parapet and a cornice band, with moulded curved forward frames around 8/8-pane sash windows. The first-floor windows have curved aprons, and the wall above and below them is flat. The central doorcase is adorned with half-round reeded pilasters that have moulded caps, and the entablature features diamond shapes on the frieze beneath a dentil cornice. To the far left, there is another blocked door with a similar but simpler doorcase. The interior has been altered.
