Description

The Devon Arms Hotel is an early 19th-century hotel located in Teignmouth. It is built of painted stucco under a slate roof, with rendered stacks rising from the ridge and left gable end. The building has a double-depth plan, with later 20th-century additions to the rear.

The exterior presents a 3-window front, with two storeys and an attic. The upper floor has 6/6-pane sash windows, each flanked by raised moulding to narrow panels of the same height. Between these and at the outer ends are similar wider panels with concave corners. The ground floor has curved bays with reeded pilasters and a lintel band, topped by a moulded cornice with dentils. A prostyle porch to the left-hand side has columns to the front and pilasters to the rear with fluted bands. The porch entablature has a similar band below the cornice and blocking course, and a semi-elliptical fanlight with radiating glazing bars over 20th-century double doors. The ground floor windows have leaded glazing. The interior has not been inspected.
