Pair of Estate Cottages. Circa mid C19 with C20 alterations. Red sandstone, thatched roof, gabled at ends ; axial stack to main block, axial stacks to wings. Plan: Approximately U plan : a central block with crosswings that project futher to the front than the rear, rear on to the road. Although the cottages appear to be one build the slightly shorter front right wing is probably later. and is an adaptation of a workshop (blocked arch in rear wall). Exterior: 2 storeys. Approximately symmetrical front, the gabled ends of the crosswings to left and right, 2 windows in the centre; C20 front door through C20 lean-to porch to left; second front door through slated lean-to to right. Eaves thatch gabled over 2 dormers with curly bargeboards in the centre, casement windows to the ends of the wings, all glazed with late C20 plastic casements with small panes. The rear elevation, facing the road, is slightly recessed in the centre between the wings which have pierced curly bargeboards to each gable : gabled dormer in the centre, small pane plastic C20 casements with concrete architraves, some of the openings pr.obably C20. Blocked doorway to right hand wing, blocked archway to left-hand wing. Interior: Not inspected.
