Description
The K6 telephone kiosk is a standard design made of cast iron, painted red overall. It features long horizontal glazing in the door and sides, with crowns applied to the top panels rather than being perforated. There are rectangular white display signs reading "TELEPHONE" beneath the shallow-curved roof. The internal equipment has been modernised, and the kiosk appears to be intact as of 2009.
This kiosk is located on the eastern side of the main road through the small hamlet of Mamhead, approximately 20 meters south of Fernley, which is a Grade II listed building. On the opposite side of the road are the four ranges of farm buildings at Home Farm, also Grade II listed. The kiosk has a strong visual connection with these two groups of listed buildings, creating a coherent group at the center of the hamlet.
