Description
Home Farm Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the 1830s, contemporary with the planned farmyard to the south. It is constructed of stone rubble with red sandstone dressings and features a two-span slate roof that is gabled at the ends, with end stacks that include brick shafts; one of these stacks retains a sandstone shaft.
The farmhouse has a symmetrical double depth plan, consisting of two rooms wide with a central entrance, likely leading into a stair hall. The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-bay front, with a central 20th-century front door. The original fenestration probably includes three first-floor two-light casement windows, each with three panes per light, and two similar windows on the ground floor.
The interior has not been inspected but may hold interest. Adjacent to the right side of the house is a granite horse trough dated 1672, marked with the initials "I T." The farmhouse is part of a notable group with the farm buildings.
