Description
Ivy Cottage and Silverthorne Cottage are a pair of estate cottages built in the early 19th century. They are constructed from squared rubble stone with ashlar dressings and feature a plain tile roof with two ridge stacks. The cottages are two storeys high and have a three-window centre, with projecting canted bays at each end that have bargeboarded gables. The oversailing angles of the bays are supported by long timber brackets. Each bay contains three-light casements with pointed Y-tracery heads and flat hoodmoulds. The centre section has similar pairs of casements with Y-tracery heads, with three on the first floor, the centre one being blind, and two on the ground floor flanking paired door openings. The doors are from the 20th century. This picturesque pair of cottages was built for the Erlestoke Park estate.
