Description

Kindle Cottage is a house, likely dating from the 18th century or earlier. It is constructed of colourwashed and rendered cob and stone rubble, with a reported concrete block rear wall. The roof is thatched, hipped at the left end and gabled at the right, with a stack featuring paired shafts at the right end. The house was originally planned with a single depth and probably two rooms. The front of the house has an asymmetrical three-window arrangement; the thatch overhangs the first-floor windows on both the left and right. A 20th-century glazed porch is situated in the centre of the right side of the building. Small-paned casement windows are visible on the front, while the rear elevation appears to have 20th-century metal-framed windows. Access to the property was not possible during the survey in 1987, and an internal inspection could potentially alter the suggested date of construction.
