Description

Ye Olde Pounde is a house, likely dating from the 18th century. The walls are colourwashed rendered cob, and the roof is thatched, with a plain ridge, half-hipped at the left end, and hipped at the right end. A rear lateral stack has a brick shaft. The house originally consisted of a single-depth main range, probably two rooms wide, with an entrance at the left end of the front, leading to a straight stair. A small rear left wing extends at right angles to the main range, and a single-storey block with a tiled roof adjoins the main range at the left end. The house is two storeys high. The front facade is asymmetrical, with three windows and regular fenestration. A thatched porch supported on posts is located at the left end of the front, and the eaves thatch is angled upwards over three first-floor windows. The windows are 2-light casements, each light containing six panes. The interior was not inspected. The house is raised above Bullen Street and is conspicuously sited.
