Description

Fern Bank is a house that likely dates back to the 18th century. It is constructed from colourwashed rendered stone rubble and cob, topped with a thatched roof that has gables at both ends and features end stacks. The building has a single-depth plan that is two rooms wide, with a central entrance.

The exterior is two storeys high and presents an asymmetrical front with three windows. It includes a gabled glazed porch and a panelled front door. The windows are timber casements with glazing bars. The right end stack projects outward, while the left end stack is internal. The rear elevation facing the road has three ground-floor casement windows and one first-floor casement window, all with glazing bars. The roof is described as 'braced'.

Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted that the lime plaster on the left gable end was applied over sailcloth, secured with wooden dowels, and has been repaired using the same technique by the owner.
