Description
Holly Cottage is a house, probably dating to the late 18th century, and altered and extended in the late 20th century. It is constructed of plastered cob with a thatched roof, hipped at the ends, and has an end stack. Originally, it faced the road and adjoined Fern Bank (listed separately). It may have originally been an outbuilding to Fern Bank.
The building is single-storey with an attic. The front elevation is asymmetrical, with three ground-floor windows featuring small-pane timber casements, and a thatched eyebrow over one attic window. There are two windows in the end wall. Extensions have been added to the rear and left side, joining an adjoining wing. The interior has been altered, including the relocation of the stair, though it has not been inspected. The building is included on the list for its group value.
