Description
Columbine Cottage is a house dating from around the mid-17th century, which has been altered and extended in the 20th century. It features rendered stone rubble walls and a hipped thatch roof, with a rendered brick stack at the left-hand end and a rendered rubble lateral stack at the rear. The layout consists of a two-room plan that may have originally included a central passage. The larger room on the right is heated by the rear lateral stack, while the fireplace in the left-hand room may have been added later. There is a 20th-century addition at the left-hand end of the house, and the partition between the main rooms was removed in the 20th century. The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical front that has two windows on the upper floor and three on the ground floor, featuring late 20th-century two-light leaded pane casements. A lean-to porch from the 20th century is located to the left of centre, with glazed double doors. Inside, the lateral fireplace has a rough lintel made from a single slate slab, and according to the owner, the original roof timbers are still intact.
