Description

The Cottage is an early 18th-century house with a 19th-century addition. It is constructed of rendered stone rubble, possibly incorporating some cob, with a thatched roof which is hipped at the left end and gabled to the right. Brick stacks sit on stone bases at each end of the building. Originally, it comprised a two-room plan, with a stack in the end wall to heat each room. A 19th-century rear outshut has been added. The front of the house is asymmetrical, featuring a 20th-century two-light casement window on each floor, with a 19th-century four-pane horizontal sliding sash window on the first floor to the right. A 20th-century part-glazed door is located to the left of centre. A slate-roofed lean-to extends from the rear. The interior was inaccessible at the time of survey, but may contain original ceiling beams and fireplaces.
