Description
Home Thatch is a house dating from the late 17th century, with possible extensions from the 18th century. It features rendered rubble walls, which may include some cob, and has a hipped thatch roof. There is a rendered axial stack, likely made of rubble with a brick shaft. The house appears to have been built in two stages: the left-hand part consists of two rooms that project, while the right-hand part consists of one room. The axial stack separates these areas and seems to provide heat to two rooms. There are 19th or early 20th century rear lean-to additions.
The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical front featuring four windows, where the left side projects. It has mid-20th century two-light metal-frame casements. A central porch, which is no longer in use, is of 20th century design. The entrance is now through a thatched porch on the left-hand end wall, which has a 20th century plank door. The interior was inaccessible during the survey but may contain original ceiling beams and fireplaces.
