Description

A pair of contemporary houses, likely dating from the mid-19th century, are located on Crowthers Hill in Dartmouth. The houses are built with plastered walls, some on stone rubble and some on timber framing. The front facade is rendered to resemble ashlar. Each house has end stacks with plastered brick chimney shafts and a hipped slate roof.

The houses are two storeys high, with the ground floor recessed behind the first floor. Both houses have a symmetrical two-window front, featuring horned 12-pane sash windows. The paired central doorways share a flat, stuccoed, rusticated surround and contain four-panel doors with vertical moldings on the lower panels. The first floor oversails the ground floor, supported by timber posts. Original cast-iron railings with ornate fleur-de-lys finials fence the platform in front of the houses. The interior has not been inspected, but is likely to be of architectural interest.
