Description
Balmoral House is a house that has been divided into three flats. It dates from the early 19th century and has some 20th-century alterations. The north side wall is made of painted stone rubble up to the second-floor level, while the rest of the building features plastered timber-framing. There are two rear lateral stone rubble stacks with painted brick chimney shafts and a hipped slate roof.
The house is three storeys high with a narrow one-window front. On the ground floor, there are French windows with margin glazing. The first floor features a curving bay window with a front curving 16-pane sash flanked by 8-pane sashes, topped with a timber modillion cornice. The second floor has a 12-pane sash. The deep eaves have a plastered soffit that returns around the south entrance front. The southern entrance front has four bays, with some 12-pane sashes and some blind windows. On the ground floor to the right, there is a horned 4-pane sash. The original front doorway has a late 20th-century glazed door, and there is another door at the rear. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
