Description

This is a lamp post located approximately 0.4 metres to the east of the Newcomen Road Embankment in Dartmouth. It dates from the late 19th century and is made of cast iron. The lamp post features a large circular plinth supporting a moulded base beneath a bulbous bottom section, which is decorated with acanthus leaves. The stem is fluted and tapering, and it has four curving brackets that hold a restored lantern with a top ventilator. This lamp post is included for its group value.
