Description
Sabine House is a house located in Dartmouth, probably built in the late 18th century, with some modernizations from the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features plastered and slate-hung walls, likely constructed from stone rubble, though parts may be timber-framed. It has a left end stack with a brick chimney shaft and old pots, topped by a hipped slate roof.
The layout consists of one room wide and two rooms deep, with a doorway on the right side. The front has one window, with the ground floor plastered and the upper floor slate-hung, including a band of scallop-shaped slates. The ground floor features a 20th-century casement window with glazing bars. The first floor likely retains its original tripartite sash window, which includes a central 12-pane sash. The second floor has a pair of horned sashes without glazing bars.
The right return wall is plastered and contains a doorway towards the rear, featuring a top-glazed six-panel door with a fixed-pane window with glazing bars to the left. Both are sheltered by a timber flat hood with moulded edges supported by three shaped brackets. The interior has not been inspected but is expected to be of interest.
