Description
This is an early to mid-19th century house, potentially with earlier origins. It is constructed of stone rubble side walls, with a pebble-dashed south side, a timber-framed front wall clad with stucco on the ground floor and slate-hanging above. The house has stacks in the right party wall, featuring rendered brick chimneyshafts and old pots. The roof is hipped and covered in slate.
The plan is one room wide and two rooms deep. The house is three storeys high with attics, featuring a single-window front. The ground floor is rusticated stucco, while the upper floors are slate-hung and painted. Pilasters project from the side walls. The front door, on the left side, has a 20th-century part-glazed door offset by an overlight and an open-pediment hood supported by timber brackets. A good mid-19th century four-panel door with round-headed top panels is now located towards the back of the entrance passage. All windows are replacement horned sash windows, with a pair on the ground floor and others in a canted bay window that rises through the first and second floors. A moulded modillion eaves cornice projects forward around the bay window and flanking pilasters. The left side wall has a couple of similar sash windows, and a smaller version in a gabled dormer with wavy bargeboards and a terracotta finial. The interior of the house has not been inspected. The building is included on the list for its group value.
