Description

This is a lamp post located approximately 6 metres to the east of No. 1 in Bayards Cove, Dartmouth. It dates from the late 19th century and was reset in its current position around 1975. The lamp post is made of cast iron and features an ornamental design. It has a large tubular plinth leading to a moulded base beneath a bulbous bottom section, which is decorated with acanthus leaves. The stem is fluted and tapering, and it has four curving brackets that support a restored lantern with a top ventilator. This lamp post is included for its group value.
