Description

This lamp post, located approximately 1.25 metres south of No. 4 on Smith Street in Dartmouth, dates from the late 19th century. It is made of cast iron and features an octagonal pedestal with a moulded base. The stem is slightly tapering and is designed to resemble sprouting leaves, with bulbous sections at the bottom and just below the fluted arms. The lamp is topped with a 20th-century replacement lantern held by small slender curving brackets. This lamp post is included for its group value.
