Description

The front entrance gates and gatepiers, located approximately 5 metres west of Buzzacott Manor, date from the late 19th century and are made of cast and wrought iron. Each gate is divided into five sections, with the two outer sections separated by a pair of verticals. The larger middle section features a central vertical element with a twist finial that descends to a quarter-height double horizontal rail. Both panels above and below this rail are richly decorated with scroll and strapwork designs, including a central cartouche that displays the initials of the then owners, a member of the Snell family. The lock is stamped with the name Hill and Smith. The overthrow is adorned with scrolls and enriched with paterae. The gatepiers are square in shape, topped with ball finials, and have open panelled sides filled with scroll decoration. There is also a smaller wrought iron pedestrian gate on the left side.
