Description
The forge at Combe Martin Silver Mine is a mine forge built in 1837. It features a steeply pitched slate roof with gabled ends and small stone integral gable-end stacks. The building has a single-cell rectangular plan, built into the bank at the rear and with an entrance located at the center of the south front.
The exterior consists of one storey, with a wide doorway at the center that has plank double doors. There is a 20th-century concrete block lean-to on the right side, and the building has no windows.
Inside, the space is open to the roof and includes a reconstructed hearth at the west end. The roof structure features collar-trusses with collars bolted to the principals. The Combe Martin Silver Mine is historically significant as a documented Medieval mine.
