Description

The Community Centre is a single-storey building constructed from rubble stone with ashlar dressings, topped with an asbestos slate roof featuring crested ridge tiles. It has an asymmetrical layout consisting of two parallel gable-end ranges connected by an entrance block, creating a U-shaped plan. An additional gable end range projects forward from the right-hand side of the building, with each range containing a large room.

The principal elevation faces west and features large tripartite, transomed, mullion windows with three lights and single sidelights at the gable ends of the outer ranges. The right-hand range also has a bell on its gable end. The inner range's gable end includes a three-light transomed mullion window set within a two-centred arch surround, complete with an ashlar impost band. The connecting range has an entrance doorway to the left of a five-light transomed mullioned window, both of which have pointed arch heads and are beneath a hipped roof. On the north elevation of the left-hand range, there is a tall three-light double transomed window and a two-light mullion window, both inserted in the 19th century. Additionally, there are several infilled doorways and window openings in the left-hand range, along with evidence of a former attached building's roof line, indicating the building's previous uses.

While there was no internal inspection in 2011, it is understood that the main ranges feature arch-braced roofs.
