Description
The Coach House at Nanhoron is an L-shaped building constructed from coursed rubble stone blocks, topped with a slate roof and gable coping. The symmetrical northern front features three 16-pane hornless sash windows on the upper floor, each set within stone voussoired arches and slate sills. Below, there are three large segmental arches made of stone voussoirs; the outer arches contain vertically boarded double doors, while the central opening is blocked by a slightly recessed inner wall with an inset boarded door and a stone voussoired arch.
The western gable has slate cladding on the upper wall and a stone end-stack. The southern elevation presents an irregular arrangement from two or more construction phases. On the upper floor, from left to right, there is a 6-pane sash window, a corbelled chimneystack, another 6-pane sash, followed by a 16-pane sash. Below these, there is a 3-pane fixed light, a boarded door with a 4-pane overlight, and another 6-pane sash. To the right, the gable end of the eastern range shows a 20-pane sash on the ground floor.
The western side of the eastern range, which faces the inner yard, is constructed from more finely worked coursed rubble stone blocks and is single-storey. It features a broad flat-headed coach entry on the left with folding doors, followed by a fixed 20th-century 4-pane light, a boarded door, a 4-pane sash, another boarded door, and finally another 4-pane sash on the right. The northern gable of the eastern range has an uncoursed rubble stone base with brick in the upper gable. Access to the loft is via a wooden stair, leading to a plank door with a cambered brick arch. The upper wall includes a circular ventilation opening, which is now blocked, and a wrought iron weathervane.
