Description
Rhydgaled is a house built of rubble stone, featuring long dark green rough-faced blocks and a slate roof with stone end stacks, the larger stack located to the left. The building is two-storey, double-fronted, and slightly offset to the right. It has two 16-pane hornless sash windows on each floor and a half-glazed door positioned between them. The windows have slate sills and slab lintels.
On the west side, there is a large lean-to that includes a 6-pane upper window and a 16-pane lower window at the southern end, along with a broad opening on the west side. The rear wing has a red brick stack at the northern end. Attached to the northwest corner of the west lean-to is a former smithy, which features a stone stack at the northern end, a door with a slab lintel at the southern end, and a wall that extends across with a flat parapet from the southern gable to the northwest corner of the house. There is one metal window on the west side of the smithy.
Inside the smithy, there is a massive fireplace at the northern end, which has a curved timber bressumer, and the roof is supported by one collar-truss.
