Description
Plaistow Mill and the adjoining barn and shippon form a connected group of outbuildings dating from the mid-19th century. They are constructed of stone rubble with slate roofs. The mill building stands three storeys high and features a 14-foot overshot wheel with wooden spokes, buckets, and an iron rim, along with gearing located at ground level. Inside, there are two pairs of stones on the first floor, as well as sack hoist machinery and storage bins above. Some openings, which originally had flat brick arches, have been significantly altered and now include one single and one double wooden loading door at first floor level. The attached barn and shippon extend eastwards at right angles to the mill building.
