Description

Park Farmhouse is a former farmhouse, likely dating from the 15th or early 16th century, with later additions and alterations. The building is constructed of cob, some stone, and is pebbledashed, topped with a gabled-end slate roof. Originally, it had a three-room, through-passage plan, with the lower end located to the right of the passage. An external rear lateral stack heats the hall, while an internal end stack heats the lower end, both featuring brick shafts. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a front with a four-window range, all fitted with 20th-century casement windows. There is a slated porch leading to the passage and a conservatory to the left, which fronts the hall and includes French windows. The rear of the building has 19th and 20th-century extensions.

Inside, the hall features two cross beams and two half-beams, all chamfered, with the half-beams having step stops and bars. The fireplace includes a large lintel and a chamfered timber jamb. There is a plank and muntin screen at the lower end of the hall, which is chamfered with carpenter's mitres and includes one chamfered doorway with arch jamb. The lower end passage screen has not survived, except for one doorway with a shouldered arch. The medieval screens above have been modified when the first floor was added. A chamfered beam in the passage also has step stops and a bar. The jointed cruck roof is believed to be smoke-blackened.
