Description
The garden railings and factor's office, located approximately 10 meters southeast of Bidwell Barton Farmhouse, date from the mid-19th century. The cast iron railings are supported by brick and rubble footings, while the office is constructed of cob and stone, with some 20th-century brick additions and a slate roof. The railings feature double gates for the front door and a small gate at the left end, with steps leading down to the right that connect to the factor's office. The railings are set in iron coping and include spear tops, a middle bar, and alternating half-railings. The round-topped gate-piers are decorated with acanthus motifs. The factor's office, which is situated over a store to the left, has a monopitch roof and external stone steps leading to the first floor, along with a reused oak flat-arched door. The interior includes late 16th to early 17th century moulded beams used in the floor. This structure is included for its group value.
