Description
The railings, wall, and gate at the front of Court Barton date from the 19th century. They feature wrought and cast iron set on a low rubble wall with weathered stone coping. The wall curves from the left side of the Victorian gable across the entire front of the house, connecting to the lych gate of the church. On top of the coping are hooped railings with three horizontal rails, each hoop containing two low bars and one higher bar topped with small urn finials. Square standards support the finials at intervals, and there is a single gate opening opposite the porch entry. The gate has similar detailing, with inverted hoops forming X-bracing in the lower half. The railings are very complete and undamaged.
