Description

The milestone located in the layby opposite Icy Park in Aveton Gifford dates from the 18th or 19th century. It is made of stone and has a triangular section, though it is almost concealed in the embankment. The milestone is painted white with slightly incised black lettering; however, the inscription is no longer legible. Based on the pattern of other milestones along the route, it likely indicates distances to Kingsbridge (4 miles) and Modbury (3 miles).
