Description
Upton Pyne Working Men's Club is a building that was formerly two cottages, dating from the 18th century or possibly earlier. It features cob walls that are plastered and partly cement rendered, resting on a stone plinth. The roof is thatched, with one gable and a truncated stack at the lower end of the central room. The building is two storeys high throughout. The front and back have a regular fenestration pattern, with a three-window front consisting of 19th-century two-light casements. There is a left-hand plank door at the lower end and another doorway to the right of centre. Additionally, there is a 20th-century left-hand doorway at the higher end with a plank door, and a 20th-century door to the right of centre. Although the interior was not inspected, some original beams are visible in the ground-floor rooms. The back of the building is impressively high above the lane, and the front contributes to an attractive group with Lychgate Cottage, which faces the parish church across a small cobbled open space.
