Description

No. 15 East Street is a house and shop dating from the late 18th century, with a shop front added in the late 19th century. The building is stuccoed and possibly made of stone, topped with a slate roof, and features axial and left end stacks with brick and rendered shafts. The main block is three storeys high, while the rear service wing is two storeys.

The front has an asymmetrical two-window design with regular fenestration. The front door to the house is located to the left of centre and features a doorcase with pilasters adorned with incised fret decoration and an entablature, along with panelled reveals. The original six-panel door has fielded panels and a four-pane overlight. To the left of the door is an original window embrasure that has been reglazed with a 20th-century timber two-light transomed casement.

To the right of the door is the shop front, which includes a shop door. This shop front has plain pilasters on either side, with projecting moulded gabled brackets and a fascia that angles towards the front. The recessed shop door features two large panes above a low panel, an overlight, and an ovolo-moulded doorframe. The two-light shop window has a moulded frame and curves inward towards the door. The ground floor interior is plain, but there may be features of interest on the first floor. This building is part of the same development as No. 14 East Street.
