Description

This is a late 18th-century house located on East Street, Crediton, and part of the same development as number 15. The main block is three stories high, with a two-story rear service wing. The front is nearly symmetrical with three bays. The central front door has a doorcase featuring pilasters with incised fret decoration and an entablature, along with panelled reveals. The original six-panel door has fielded panels and a four-pane overlight. Original 16-pane sashes are present throughout, with two windows per floor on the front elevation; the second floor windows are 4/8-pane sashes. Smaller casements are found at the rear. The rear service wing incorporates an axial stack under a lean-to roof and includes a possible 18th-century flush frame sash, now reglazed with a later horned four-pane sash. The building is stuccoed with blocked-out stone details, and has a slate roof with brick and rendered shafts to the axial and left-end stacks. The interior has not been inspected but may retain original features of interest.
