Description
Challices is a house located on Fore Street in Bradninch, built in 1837. It is constructed from stone, rendered, and has a gabled-end slate roof. The building has two storeys and features an asymmetrical front with a three-window range. There is a vehicular entrance on the left side and a porch to the right of the centre. All windows are hornless six-pane sashes, with margin panes on those flanking the porch, and they have simple flat surrounds. The porch, which was originally rusticated, includes corner pilaster strips and a horizontal band below the parapet, with semi-circular headed windows on each side and a panelled front door. The gables have corner pilaster strips and coping, although the parapet has been removed. The house has two end stacks and one axial stack with brick shafts. It is included for its group value.
