Description

Two houses, situated at 8 and 12 Hen Street, Bradninch, likely originated as a single dwelling in the 17th century, with subsequent alterations. They are constructed of cob with a stone plinth, and are plastered with a gabled slate roof. Brick shafts mark the three stacks: one external to the left, and one axial. Originally a three-room, cross-passage house, it was extended to form a shallow L-shaped plan with a parlour. The front elevation features a four-window range, all with hornless sash windows, and includes two 20th-century front doors. In upper rooms, sections of cruck timbers are visible. The buildings are listed for their group value.
