Description

This is a row of three cottages, originally a single house dating to the 17th century, and altered in later periods. The structure is built of cob with a stone plinth and plastered walls, and has a gabled-end slate roof. It was likely originally a 3-room dwelling with a through-passage. There may have been a later extension on the right-hand side. Two stacks are located at the ends of the building, and a front lateral stack, originally serving a hall, has been cut back, all featuring brick shafts. There are two storeys throughout. The windows are inconsistently placed, with four first-floor windows - three 20th century, 3-light windows and one 20th century metal-framed casement. The six ground-floor windows are 20th-century replacements, and the two doors are also 20th century. The passage, now providing access to number 2, retains original chamfered door surrounds and an early 19th-century planked door. The roof is entirely 19th century. The row of cottages contributes significantly to the townscape.
