Description

The Firs is a house located in Calstock, dating from the early to mid-19th century, with few later alterations. It is constructed of rendered stone rubble and features a slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. The house has a double depth plan, with principal rooms at the front on the right and left, each heated by a gable end stack, and shallow service rooms at the rear. The building is set into the bank at the back.

The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front, with all windows being 19th-century 16-pane sashes. There is a central flat-roofed porch supported by wooden posts, which features a doorway with pilasters and a cornice, leading to a 20th-century panelled door. On the right side, there is a 20th-century window at the first floor to the right, along with an external stack. The interior has not been inspected.
