Description

Chimley Corner is a house located in Calstock, built in the mid-19th century with few later alterations. It is constructed of rendered stone rubble and features a slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. The house has gable end stacks with rendered shafts, and there is an additional stack for the outshut at the rear left. The layout consists of a two-room plan with a central entrance, with each room heated by a gable end stack. An outshut has been added to the rear left, which is heated by a stack on the left side. Additionally, a single-storey lean-to has been added to the rear right, now serving as the main entrance.

The exterior of the house is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front. The first floor features 19th-century 16-pane sash windows on the right and left, with a central two-pane light that includes margin glazing. The ground floor also has 16-pane sash windows on the right and left, along with a central conservatory porch that has a half-glazed, margin-glazed door. The right side of the house is blind, while the left side includes a small single-storey lean-to. At the rear, the outshut has two 20th-century casements on the ground floor and one on the first floor, along with a 20th-century plank door to the porch and a two-light casement on the side. The first floor of the main house features an 8-pane stair light. The interior has not been inspected.
