Description
New Bridge, also known as Gunnislake Bridge, is a bridge over the River Tamar, dating from around 1520, with some rebuilding to the parapet walls. It is constructed of granite ashlar, with the parapet walls made of rubble and topped with granite coping. The bridge measures a total length of 55 metres and features five triangular refuges on each side, six slightly pointed arches, imposts at the springing of the arches, and recessed arch rings with chamfered outer order. The ashlar rises to a string course and is built out in rubble above. The parapet walls are splayed back at each end.
