Description

CALSTOCK UNDER ROAD, Gunnislake SX 4271-4371 7/143 Sunnymede II House. Probably late C17 - early C18, with later C18 additions and C20 alterations. Stone rubble, the front painted and partly rendered. Slurried slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends ; gable end stacks with rubble shafts. Plan: 2-room plan with central entrance, each room heated from a gable end stack. Later in the C18, a single storey outshut was built along the whole of the rear, forming a 2-room plan service range, each room heated from a stack at the outer side. C20 porch added to the front and a lean-to at the right side. Exterior: 2 storeys, symmetrical 3-window front ; first floor has 2-light casement to right and left and C19 4-pane sash to centre. Ground floor has central C20 lean-to porch with plain inner door, C20 2-light casement to right and left. The left side is rendered with a 4-pane light at ground floor to right. C20 light in the outshut. At the right side is a single storey lean-to with 2 doors. At the rear, the outshut forms a catslide roof with the main range ; 2 C20 windows at ground floor. Single storey small addition to left. Interior: Not inspected.
