Description
Ivy Cottage is a house that likely dates from the mid-19th century, although it has undergone some alterations and additions in the 20th century. The building is constructed of granite rubble with a rendered front and features a slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. It has slightly projecting stone rubble gable end stacks topped with brick shafts.
The layout consists of a two-room plan with a central entrance, with rooms on the right and left that are of equal size and heated by gable end stacks. There is an integral rear outshut for narrower service rooms, with the room to the rear right heated by a rear lateral stack, and another outshut at the right gable end. The house is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front, all featuring 19th-century 12-pane sash windows with very small horns. The central entrance is a 20th-century gabled and glazed porch.
On the right side, there is a single-storey lean-to with a rendered front and a 4-pane light, along with a door to the rear. The rear outshut includes a door and a 20th-century window at ground floor on the right side, and a 20th-century window at the first floor. The left side has a small single-storey lean-to. The interior has not been inspected.
