Description
This is a house, likely built in the early 18th century, with alterations and additions dating to around the mid-19th century and the 20th century. The walls are of granite rubble, with the upper section at the front covered in slate. Some areas are rendered. It has a slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends, and gable end stacks, the left-hand stack having a rendered shaft which is truncated at the top. Originally, it was designed with a two-room plan, featuring a central entrance. The room on the left served as the kitchen, and the room on the right as the parlour, both heated by gable end stacks. A 20th-century addition extends from the right end.
The front facade is two stories high and nearly symmetrical, with two windows across the first floor. The first floor windows are 19th-century, with six panes to each sash. The ground floor has a central doorway with a 20th-century plank door, a 19th-century six-pane sash window to the left, and a 19th-century two-light casement window with two panes to the right; all ground floor openings have granite lintels. A small, flat-roofed 20th-century addition is at the right end. The left end has an external stack that includes a curved oven at the base, with the upper level rendered. The rear elevation is rendered and features a small 20th-century single-light window at first-floor level. The interior remains unexamined.
