Description

Farmhouse. Likely dating from the early 18th century, with an addition from around the early to mid-19th century and some 20th-century alterations. The farmhouse is constructed of granite rubble, with some areas slate-hung and others rendered. It has an asbestos slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. There are gable end stacks with brick shafts. The 19th-century addition has a slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends, featuring a gable end stack with a brick shaft to the right. The two stacks to the right have been rebuilt in the 20th century. The original plan comprised a two-room layout, with a central entrance through a porch. Each room was heated by a stack at each gable end. Around the early to mid-19th century, a single-room addition was built to the right, also heated by a gable end stack. At roughly the same time, a single-story outshut was added along the entire rear of the building. The front of the original house is slate-hung and symmetrical, with three windows. The central porch has a pitched roof, a 19th-century light to the front, and a 20th-century door to the left side. There are 12-pane sash windows to the right and left. The first floor has three 19th-century four-pane sashes. The 19th-century addition to the right features an 8-pane sash window on the ground floor and a 4-pane sash window on the first floor. The left end has an external stack, and a 2-light 2-pane casement window is found in the outshut. The upper level is rendered, with a single-story 20th-century addition at the rear. The right end of the building is blind. The interior was not inspected.
