Description

Killeganogue Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the early to mid 19th century, with some additions and alterations from the late 19th century. It is constructed of granite rubble and features a slate roof with crested ridge tiles and gable ends. The roof has two spans, with brick chimney stacks at each end of both ranges.

The farmhouse has a double depth plan with parallel ranges. The central entrance leads into a principal room on the front right and left, while the rear range contains a central stair hall with service rooms on either side. There is a single-storey outhouse attached to the left side of the farmhouse.

The exterior is two storeys high and presents a symmetrical three-window front. All windows are 19th-century 16-pane sashes with timber lintels. The central entrance features a 19th-century four-panelled door. The left side includes a single-storey outhouse with a bitumenised slate roof, a four-pane window at the front, and a chimney stack with a brick shaft at the left gable end. There is also a lower single-storey shed attached to the gable end. The right side of the farmhouse is blind.

At the rear, the ground floor has a 19th-century 12-pane sash window to the left and a 16-pane sash window to the right. The first floor features two 19th-century 12-pane sashes with cambered brick arches, along with a central 19th-century round-arched 18-pane sash window that has radial glazing bars, illuminating the stair. The outhouse includes a lean-to with a two-light casement window, a plank door, and a four-pane sash window, with a single light in the loft above. The interior is not accessible.
