Description

Salter's Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around the mid-19th century, with some later 19th-century additions and a few alterations. It is constructed of stone rubble and features slate hanging. The slate roof has ridge tiles and gable ends, with gable end stacks that have rendered shafts. The layout consists of a two-room plan with a central entrance, where each room is heated by a gable end stack. At the rear, there is a narrower parallel range added in the late 19th century, also with a two-room plan and a stack located at the rear right. To the left side, there is a single-storey outshut, which includes a small single-storey dairy attached to the rear, and a small single-storey range of outhouses attached to the rear right.

The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front, with all windows being 19th-century 12-pane sashes. The central gabled porch features margin-glazed sidelights and an inner and outer half-glazed door with margin glazing. The left side has the single-storey lean-to, while the upper level of the house is slate-hung. At the rear of the outshut is the single-storey dairy, which has a 20th-century window. The parallel range at the rear has a hipped roof, a stair light with margin glazing in the centre, a ground floor four-pane light to the left, and a first-floor two-light eight-pane casement. Attached to the left are the single-storey outhouses, which were extended in the 20th century. The interior has not been inspected.
