Description

Trevella Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century, with additions from the 19th century and a few later alterations. It is constructed of slatestone and elvan rubble, featuring stone dressings and an asbestos slate roof that is hipped over the main range. The building has stacks at the ends and rear with brick shafts.

The farmhouse has a double depth plan, consisting of two rooms on the front left and one on the right, with a rear stair hall at the center and shallow service rooms at the back. In the early 19th century, a rear wing was added on the right, designed as a large one-room plan heated from a gable end stack, which became the kitchen. This wing was later extended to enclose a small rear service yard. Additionally, around the same time, a one-room plan was added to the left end, also heated from an end stack.

The exterior features two storeys with a nearly symmetrical four-window front. The first floor has four 12-pane sash windows from the 18th century. The ground floor has two 12-pane sashes from the 19th century with sidelights on the left and one on the right. The second bay from the right includes a panelled door with panelled cheeks, soffit, and a pediment. The left bay, which was added later, has sashes on both floors and a 20th-century door, and it is slightly set back. The right side has random fenestration, with a ground floor 12-pane sash and sidelights. In the rear courtyard, the main range features a round-arched 12-pane stair light with splayed glazing bars, along with random sashes and 20th-century casements on both floors. The service yard at the rear is enclosed by a range of single-storey outhouses with lofts.

The interior is not accessible but is reported to contain good joinery, likely from the 18th and early 19th centuries.
