Description
Ebenezer Methodist Church is a Methodist church dated 1859, with some later alterations. It is constructed of granite rubble, while the front and Sunday School sections are rendered and lined out. The church features a slurried slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. The building has a single auditorium plan with gable ends at both the front and rear, and paired porches on the left and right sides at the front.
The church is two storeys high and sits on a plinth. The front gable end includes flat-roofed porches on either side, each with a blind round-headed window at the front and a doorway on the inner side; the inner doors are fitted with strap hinges. Above, there are three round-headed sash windows, with the central one being taller, each containing 15 panes and featuring upper Gothic interlace glazing bars. In the gable, there is a round-headed recessed slate datestone inscribed with "Ebenezer Bible Christian Chapel 1859." The right side of the building has two similar round-headed sashes, while the left side is rendered and lined out with one similar round-headed sash. The rear gable end also has two round-headed sashes.
Inside, the two porch entrances lead to a vestibule that is separated from the auditorium by pitch-pine panelling. At the west end of the auditorium, there is a rostrum with a pulpit, which is fronted by a decorative cast iron balustrade. The rear of the rostrum features raked benches, and there are plain pews throughout the auditorium.
