Description
Menadew Farmhouse, built around 1830, features attached garden walls at both the front and rear. The farmhouse is constructed from granite ashlar at the front and granite rubble elsewhere, topped with a slate roof that has crested ridge tiles and gable ends. The building has a double depth plan with a central entrance, flanked by two principal rooms of equal size, each heated by a gable end stack. To the right, there is a two-storey outshut that contains service rooms, including an unheated dairy, and it encloses the rear door.
The farmhouse is symmetrical with a three-window front, showcasing 19th-century windows that are all four-pane sashes with cambered heads and keystones. A central gabled porch supported by Tuscan columns leads to an inner half-glazed door with an overlight featuring decorative glazing bars. The eaves are boxed, and the left side of the building has a wide external stack. The rear includes a two-storey outshut with a door on the right side and a four-pane sash window above it on the first floor. The rear of the range to the right has additional four-pane sash windows on both the ground and first floors.
The front garden is enclosed by rubble walls that ramp up to the house on the left, while the rear wall encloses the yard to the rear left of the house. The interior has not been inspected.
